Commercial greenhouse in Ontario project.

Two Ovaltech III freestanding greenhouses were installed at this Canadian Tire garden centre location in Barrhaven, providing year-round display and retail space for plants and seasonal products.

Each structure measures 25 ft × 48 ft, engineered to withstand the demanding Ottawa-area climate with a snow load of 2.4 kPa and a wind load of 0.41 kPa. The arches are spaced 6 ft on centre using 2″ × 3-9/16″ 14-gauge tubes and a 1-1/4″ Ø 18-gauge webbing cross-member system – a robust framework built to last.

The structures are covered with 8 mm opaque white twin-wall polycarbonate (PCSS).

Access is provided through a large 96″ × 98″ double sliding door for merchandise and equipment movement, complemented by a 34″ × 80″ steel personnel door. The greenhouses are anchored to a concrete slab via anchor plates, with footings reinforced by 4 × 15M rebars and 10M stirrups at 16″ c/c – a solid, code-compliant foundation for permanent installation.

Interior clear height reaches 109″ under the crosstie and 169″ at peak, offering generous vertical space for tall displays and equipment circulation.
