Optimal light & No dripping

The 45-degree gothic roof angle, combined with high-quality plastic films, optimizes light quality by filtering specific light wavelengths beneficial to plant development. This design also improves internal climate stability, helping growers maintain more consistent growing conditions.

Thanks to the superior strength of Harnois steel structures, fewer structural elements are required in the roof. This reduces shading and allows more natural light to reach the plants—directly contributing to improved photosynthesis and higher yields.

The 45-degree roof angle works in combination with a long-lasting anti-drip film treatment to eliminate condensation dripping. Moisture naturally flows down the roof toward the sides instead of accumulating overhead, preventing water droplets from falling onto the crop and reducing the risk of plant damage and disease.

Why Harnois?

Harnois greenhouses are built using high-quality graded steel and pre-galvanized Galvalume steel tubes (+40 years) for superior corrosion resistance and durability. All our hardware is tested for corrosion and all our suppliers are certified.

Our exclusive oval tube design provides optimized structural resistance while eliminating sharp edges that can damage polyethylene film. Compared to traditional profiles, oval tubing delivers superior strength:

  • 28% stronger than round
  • 46% stronger than square
  • 18% stronger than rectangular

Every Harnois greenhouse is engineer-stamped (except the TunnelProPlus) and designed for simplified installation without compromising strength. Drilling is performed along the neutral axis to preserve structural integrity, with bolted assemblies and swedged tubes limiting on-site drilling. Structural gutters and gothic-shaped arches further enhance load capacity and durability.

Harnois plastic films feature multi-layer technology with advanced anti-drip treatment for maximum light diffusion and thermal performance. With up to 90–91% light transmission, 7.2 mil thickness, and an R-value of 1.9, our films are engineered for longevity and tested in UV chambers to ensure consistent quality over time.

All manufacturing processes comply with ISO 9001:2015 standards, and all fasteners undergo corrosion testing with certified suppliers; ensuring long-term structural reliability.

Transitioning from Open-Field to High-Tunnel Production, Innovative Strategies for Small Fruit Growers

Switching from open-field to high-tunnel production transformed our operation. With 15 hectares of TunnelPro Plus structures, we’ve gained better crop quality, extended our season, and reduced our operating costs by 50% compared to open-field. It’s a game-changer for small fruit production.

Engineered greenhouse for Canadian growers

Recent project: Lareault

For the past 70 years, Production Lareault has grown almost a billion fruit plants on its 185 hectares. As the largest producer of strawberry plants in Canada, and a supplier of top-quality berries, the company is entering a new phase and building on its momentum with the arrival of new owners.

About the TunnelPro Plus

The TunnelPro Plus is a durable, economical 3-season high polytunnel greenhouse designed to boost yields and reduce production risks. Built in Canada with high-grade galvanized steel, its exclusive oval 2″ × 3 9/16″ arches offer exceptional strength, long-term corrosion resistance, and reduced stress on polyethylene films, extending cover lifespan and lowering maintenance.

Quick to assemble with concrete-free anchors, wide arch spacing, and optional twinning with or without structural gutters, the TunnelPro Plus provides a stable, adaptable solution for growers transitioning from open-field to controlled-environment production. Its 31′ 6″ width and up to 18′ height ensure easy machinery access and maximum usable growing space.

Ideal for small fruits, leafy greens, and vegetables, this multi-tunnel system delivers superior crop protection, excellent light diffusion, and reliable weather resistance. Fully compliant with Canadian and U.S. building codes and engineered to withstand high winds, it offers outstanding value, with a typical ROI in just 3 years, making it a wise long-term investment for protecting sensitive crops like strawberries and raspberries.

Turnkey offer: Greenhouse + Irrigation

A high tunnel greenhouse solution paired with perfectly adapted irrigation systems for each block, designed for areas starting at 1/2 hectare, featuring TunnelPro Plus models measuring 31’6” x 230’:

Rise of the High Polytunnel Greenhouse in North America

high tunnel winterization - beautiful dry day

The rise of high polytunnel greenhouses is transforming soft fruit production across North America, offering growers a reliable and cost-effective solution to extend the harvest window and improve crop quality. This innovative structure, now proudly available as the first Canadian-made model by Harnois, provides optimal climate control and protection from harsh weather, making it ideal for delicate crops like strawberries and raspberries. Producers such as Production LareaultPolyculture Plante and Entreprises Pitre are leading the way with successful installations, proving the model’s value in Quebec’s diverse climate. With increased consumer demand for locally grown berries and the need for sustainable farming methods, high polytunnel greenhouses are quickly becoming a key asset in the future of North American berry production.

They also allow earlier planting, reduce disease pressure from rain, and improve labour efficiency, giving growers a competitive edge in both yield and quality. Combined with integrated irrigation and fertigation systems, these structures support higher-density planting and consistent production from spring to fall.
